The "British Jazz Explosion" vinyl reissue series continues with Harry Beckett's "Flare Up" (1970), a much-discussed and equally sought-after album by an artist who had a six-decade career in British jazz. Includes the funk track "Third Road," which was included on the critically acclaimed compilation album "Journeys In Modern Jazz" from the British Jazz Explosion. Beckett's choice of musicians on the album include John Surman, Alan Skidmore and John Taylor

Beckett played with Charles Mingus on the 1962 film score "All Night Long" and was the musician of choice for many artists including Graham Collier, John Surman, Mike Westbrook, Chris McGregor, Mike Gibbs, Ian Carr's Nucleus, Stan Tracey, Jah Wobble , Ronnie Scott and many others. Beckett also played a major role in the early lineup of the Jazz Warriors Big Band in the 1980s with Courtney Pine, Gary Crosby, Steve Williamson, Orphy Robinson and others.

Limited edition, remastered by Gearbox. 180g Optimal pressing, laminated flip-back sleeve, 12x12 insert with new liner notes by Tony Higgins.
