Recorded in April 1961, Someday My Prince Will Come showcases Miles' second great rhythm section at their absolute peak form. Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb were a tight unit, grooving so successfully that they went on to leave Miles and form the Wynton Kelly Trio. This album also features Hank Mobley and John Coltrane's last recording with Miles Davis.

A beautiful addition to the Davis canon. Recorded over the course of three days in April 1961, Someday My Prince Will Come showcases Miles' second great rhythm section, here at the absolute peak of their telepathic interplay. Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb were as tight a unit as any ever formed, grooving so successfully that they went on to leave Miles and form the Wynton Kelly trio. Someday My Prince Will Come also includes some positively blistering solos from guest John Coltrane in his final recording with Miles. And Hank Mobley offers up some beautiful bluesy solos.

For nearly six decades, Miles Davis has embodied all that is cool – in his music (and most especially jazz), in his art, fashion, romance, and in his international, if not intergalactic, presence that looms strong as ever today. Miles’ 30 years at Columbia was one of the longest exclusive signings in the history of jazz, and one that spanned at least a half-dozen distinct generations of changes in the music – virtually all of which were anticipated or led by Miles or his former sidemen.

Davis' 1961 successor to Sketches of Spain is a combination of new originals - including tributes to his then-wife, Frances ("Pfrancing"); his producer, Teo Macero ("Teo"); and Columbia Records then-president Goddard Lieberson ("Drad Dog") - alongside pop standards including the title track from the 1937 film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. As tight as any unit Miles ever assembled, co-conspirators here include John Coltrane, Hank Mobley, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb.
